On September 5th, I married my best friend in an intimate outdoor ceremony in Maine. The weather was what dreams are made of and the sun shone brightly while the first chills of fall danced on the breeze.
Both our ceremony and reception took place at the incredibly beautiful and historic Hamilton House in South Berwick, Maine. We exchanged vows on the far lawn of the house facing the water, and then enjoyed dinner, dessert and dancing in a tent perched among the wild flowers.
My dress was Sarah Seven and I opted with having sleeves added to an existing design to suit the historic setting. I also had buttons added down the back of the dress, and a beautiful satin sash added to the waist and I couldn't have been happier with how it turned out. My veil was very simple so it didn't compete with the dress, and my shoes were by Kate Spade. Rather than pick a wedding fragrance, I wore my signature Jo Malone Red Roses.
Jason and I opted for a "first look" to alleviate the stress of capturing all the pictures after the ceremony. If you find yourself a little tight on time between the ceremony and the reception, I highly recommend doing the same! We were able to relax and have plenty of time to take as many pictures as necessary and were able to enjoy the reception longer without having to miss out for pictures.
For the flowers, we chose simple arrangements of white, green, blue and grey to compliment the setting and our color scheme. The flowers were done by the amazingly talented Flowers by Leslie and I think they looked absolutely perfect!
All photos were taken by Julie Surette. She was an absolute delight to work with and made us both feel at ease and we are thrilled with the pictures and think she did an amazing job capturing the mood of our day.
