Winter is here and with it comes one of my favorite outfit combinations - turtleneck + pants. I’ve talked about this combo before and it’s one that I wear in different variations beginning in the fall, but today I want to share my favorite way to wear it here in Charleston. As you know, the winters are very mild here and excluding a few uncharacteristically cold days, the temps hang around 50 or so degrees throughout the cold seasons. For me, this means I can easily wear most of my pants with a turtleneck and any of my shoes for a warm but light look. Since my upper body tends to get cold before my ankles or feet, this means that I can wear everything from ballet flats to ankle boots and be comfortable. If you’re the opposite though, you can easily pair this combination with tall ankle boots or even knee highs that will fit perfectly under the looser leg opening. You can also of course wear boots over slimmer pants and leggings.
Here, I’ve paired my wool pants with my chunky cotton sweater that I got on eBay years ago. For footwear, I anchored the look with my beloved back wingtips that I’ve had for over 5 years but haven’t worn nearly enough the last few. They’re from Brooks Brothers, are the perfect balance of masculine and feminine for my style, and I’ll definitely be wearing them more this year. To top everything off, I wore my new coat from The Curated. I discussed this coat in more detail here, but in short, it’s perfect!
