House Update | Taking Things Slowly & Some Home Decor Inspiration

Much like my wardrobe, when it comes to decorating my house I prefer to take my time finding the perfect piece.

I'd prefer that my house never be fully "done," rather than just fill it with whatever checks the box.

As you can imagine, this means that it takes me quite a while to get everything to a place that feels right so nearly 2 years after moving into our house we're still painting and tweaking - and I wouldn't have it any other way.

As we round the bend on our living room and finally settle on a paint color and color scheme for the space, I've been gathering endless inspiration and today I want to share some of it with you. I've embedded some of my favorite pics below but you can see plenty more over on my Pinterest board here

Simple paint, classic decor and carefully chosen accents.

I'm striving to combine each of these elements for a home that feels inviting but classic.

As I dive deeper into the world of paint, I love the way muted beiges and grays pop against rich, historic flooring. This contrast perfectly anchors old and new in a way that feels fresh. When coupled with soft fabrics and a few personalized touches, the end result is timeless but comfortable. One of the things I find the most difficult about decorating is to hone in on something that doesn't feel too trendy. They say our homes should be a reflection of ourselves so I'm trying to stay as true to what naturally draws my eye. Especially in the world of Pinterest it can be so easy to copy someone else's decor so I'm working to pass on any interior design trends that don't feel like me and instead settle on a blend that feels authentic. We're still making some updates here and there but I'm hoping to share some pictures and a video in a few months and then of course plenty more as we head into the holiday season.
