Cloudy Skies and Classic Ties

Being originally from Florida, there are few things I love more than a good late afternoon storm. There's just something about how the world seems to shift before a downpour that I can't get enough of. While we were in Charleston, I was lucky enough to have a day just like that and I soaked it all in while exploring even more of the city. When we awoke, the forecast predicted rain and all day the air was breezy and warm while the clouds gathered above. To suit the impending storm, I wore my go-to long sleeve cotton t and chino shorts. To jazz up the look I added my favorite statement belt, vintage nautical print scarf and handy clutch. For footwear, I would have preferred sandals or rainboots but because I only had a few pairs of shoes with me, I opted for my super comfortable loafers instead.

Classically Romantic

Charleston is absolutely beautiful. From the achingly perfect architecture to the impeccable landscaping, the entire city is a perfect blend of classic and romantic. I was so inspired by this mix that I couldn't help but channel it with a light and airy look featuring one of my favorite skirts.

I packed this light pink silk skirt in lieu of my plaid skirt when the forecast predicted sun and heat, and I couldn't have been happier once I arrived in the Low Country. To dress down the otherwise dressy skirt, I paired it with a striped cotton t. To tie the whole look together I threw on my trusty Brooks Brothers blazer adorned with some of my favorite vintage brooches. For footwear I wore simple ballet flats that kept me comfortable strolling on the sidewalks and cobblestones alike, and carried by J. Crew crossbody bag for handsfree navigation.

That Charleston Charm

For Christmas part two, Jason and I headed to Charleston, SC to soak up the southern charm. The weather was hot and humid so I wore my lighter pieces to stay cool. While exploring the city we walked a ton so I threw on my favorite ballet flats and cross body purse for comfortable, hands free exploration.

Travel In Comfort (And Style)

When it comes to traveling, comfort is key. Whether I'm flying for two hours or eight, I prefer lightweight, breathable pieces that allow me to move and sit with ease, while still looking put together. To accomplish this goal without a lot of thought, I stick to a fail proof "uniform" of stretchy skinny jeans and cotton t-shirt. To round out the outfit and keep me warm on the flight, I either throw on a blazer or cashmere cardigan depending on the season and where I'm headed. For footwear, I like to wear either riding boots or ankle boots and socks. This combo ensures I can walk (or run) comfortably to my flight while also protecting my feet from the airport floor when going through security.
